Program Description:
Austria German Lang & Culture
PROGRAM OVERVIEW
Vienna is located in the heart of Europe and is a cultural center packed with beautiful architectural landmarks, museums, palaces, and impressive gardens. While students will take their coursework in Vienna, the program takes overnight trips to Salzburg, Austria and to Prague, Czech Republic. In addition, the group will explore some of the major sights of Vienna together. The program lasts one summer session (4 weeks).

ACADEMICS
Program participants will take one German Language course (any level)*, and ARS 252, The Arts of Vienna in 1900, for a total of 6 credit hours. This program is sponsored by the College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHASS) and the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures. It is run in cooperation with Internationales Kulturinstitut in Vienna, Austria.
*Note: Upon successful complete of this study abroad program, this course will appear on students' academic records as transfer credit. Applicants should consult with their academic advisors to determine any effect on their degree program.

ACCOMMODATIONS & MEALS
Students are housed in shared dormitory rooms. The dorm is located close to the city center of Vienna. During the excursions to Salzburg and Prague, students are accommodated in hotels.

Students are responsible for their own meals. The dorms in Vienna have kitchens for cooking. Breakfast will be included during excursions to Salzburg and Prague. A welcome dinner and a farewell dinner are included in the cost of the program.


EXCURSIONS & EVENTS
There will be overnight trips to Salzburg, the birthplace of Mozart, and to Prague, capital of the Czech Republic, with its famous castle and its historic downtown. We will explore some of the major sights of Vienna with the group. One of the highlights is a visit of a performance of the world-famous Vienna opera house. Students will have time to explore Vienna and Austria on their own. Check out the 2017 experience from a student's point of view!
