Program Description:

This program is designed for students interested in biotechnology or pre-med. In Poznan, students will utilize the city and surrounding area to explore science, history, and culture.  Students will have the unique opportunity to interact with local English-speaking Polish university students. ill encourage the students to learn more about Poland and culture in Europe.

Poland- Biotechnology

PROGRAM OVERVIEW
This program is designed for students interested in biotechnology or pre-med. In Poznan, students will utilize the city and surrounding area to explore science, history, and culture. The program will be housed at University of Life Science (ULS) and Adam Mickiewicz University (AMU) located in Poznan. The classes, excursions, and field trips to Krakow and Warsaw offered will encourage the students to learn more about Poland and culture in Europe.
***There is a Pre- Health Clinical Shadowing experience available at the conclusion of the program for an additional program cost. If interested please contact Dr. Mozdiack or Dr. Gracz for more information.***


ACADEMICS 
The goal of BCH 220 is to apply a consideration of biology/chemistry with a semi-technical examination of the emerging role of biotechnology in human society. Scientific advances and discoveries throughout the last century have resulted in major changes in medicine, agriculture, and the food industry. The course will provide an overview of the major roles of biotechnology with a special consideration for stem cells and bioethics. BIT 466/566 is a method oriented course aimed at providing the theoretical background and skills necessary to cultivate animal cells.

  • 2.0+ GPA 
  • Not on active disciplinary probation 
  • Not on Acedemic Intergrity Probation currently or during the prior semester 
  • Must be at least a sophomore
