China: Exploring Culture and Education
(Outgoing Program)
Educational transformation lies at the center of creating a new generation with a heart and mind for solving our world's most pressing issues. Immerse yourself in Chinese culture while learning about the Chinese educational system. This program will take students through Shanghai, the largest city in China, through the water town of Suzhou, to Beijing, the capital of the People's Republic, where students will have the opportunity to visit cultural landmarks and schools.

ACADEMICS
This course will immerse NC State students within Chinese culture and the Chinese educational system to develop an international perspective on learning. Students will leave the course with an enhanced self-awareness and understanding of Chinese culture while also developing intercultural communication skills and cross-cultural learning. As a part of the course, students will have the opportunity to create culturally appropriate lessons and co-teach classes in Suzhou and Beijing.

Open to Undergraduate and Graduate students
Undergraduate students must have completed their sophomore year prior to participating in the program
Not on active disciplinary probation
Not on Academic Integrity Probation currently or during the prior semester
ACCOMMODATIONS & MEALS
Students will stay in double occupancy room (2 students share 1 room) in hotels in Shanghai, Suzhou and Beijing. Breakfast is included all 3 cities along with several lunches and dinners. Students should be prepared to pay for lunches and dinners that are not included in the program budget.
EXCURSIONS
Several excursions are included in Shanghai, Suzhou and Beijing to learn more about the culture and history of China. A train ticket from Suzhou to Beijing is also included. In Shanghai students will have a chance to go on a Huangpu River Cruise, visit the Oriental Pearl Radio and Television tower, an Acrobatic show and the Jade Budda Temple. In Suzhou, a visit to the Humble Administrators garden and a Tongli town boat ride are planned.
In Beijing, a visit to the great wall and nearby sights, Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square, National Museum of China, Pearl market, Beijing Opera Performance and a visit to the Wangfujing Shopping Street are planned.
FINANCIAL AID & SCHOLARSHIPS
Financial aid is generally available to help qualified NC State students meet the expenses of NC State study abroad programs. Students from other institutions should contact their home institution study abroad and financial aid offices for information.
For additional funding, NC State students should consider applying for a study abroad scholarship from the Study Abroad Office. The scholarship deadline for summer study abroad is November 15, 2018! Apply Now!
