The Location
  • The university is set on a picturesque and secure campus just 45 minutes from downtown Buenos Aires. San Andrés also has a downtown branch facility where Intensive Spanish Program classes are held. For more information about how to get from downtown Buenos Aires to the Victoria campus, see this link.
  • Buenos Aires is one of the most cosmopolitan capitals in South America. The widely diverse population creates a dynamic mixture of Latin American and European culture, which is reflected in the city’s eclectic architecture, distinct cuisine, and rich cultural life.
  • Buenos Aires is home to an incomparable array of theatres, bookstores, cafés, museums and milongas (tango salons), and it has a vibrant and exciting nightlife.
  • The majority of the porteños are of Spanish or Italian descent. However, this city is also home to significant communities with Arab, Jewish, Armenian, Chinese, Japanese and Korean ancestry.
  • Buenos Aires has a temperate climate. Winters are mild; the summer, on the other hand, can be quite hot and humid. Many students also take the opportunity to visit some of Argentina’s most spectacular natural sites, such as Iguazú Falls in Misiones and the Perito Moreno Glacier in Patagonia, the world-famous wineries in Mendoza, or they go to the beautiful mountains at Bariloche for skiing, mountaineering, fishing and other outdoor sports.
The University
Universidad de San Andrés is a small private university modeled on the liberal arts college with one of the best academic rankings in Latin America. Their international programs combine learning with extracurricular activities that introduce students to diverse aspects of life and culture in Buenos Aires. Several Social events such as meetings, parties and day trips are organized to encourage interaction between foreign and local students.

Semester long immersion program intended for students at the high intermediate and advanced Spanish-language level. Courses are taught in Spanish and are part of the regular academic curriculum taken with local students. Each semester, there are also a limited number of courses that are taught in English.

There are four tracks within the fields of Latin American Studies:
  • Literature, Arts and Culture
  • Society and Politics
  • Economics and Business
  • Service Learning*
Click here to view more information about the courses.

At Universidad San Andres, there are three options for housing. Students can choose to live with local families in homestays or to share a rented, furnished apartment with a roommate. There are also a limited number of dorms on campus. Since the campus is outside the city of Buenos Aires, many students prefer to live closer to the city center. You will be able to indicate your preference in your application.
  • Host families: Students may opt to live with an Argentinean family during their stay. This option includes breakfast and dinner every day (except for dinner on Saturdays). Host families are screened by our staff and matched with students according to their preferences. The cost is USD $900 per month. Students may elect a one-month stay for USD $1000.
  • Apartment: Our staff provides information and resources so students can find their own housing in the city. Prices vary.
  • On campus dormitories: San Andrés has a limited number of spaces available in the on-campus dormitory which houses approximately 110 students. The residence hall provides shared double rooms steps away from the academic buildings. The building has 24 hr security and includes WIFI, shared kitchen, living room area with direct TV and cable, computer lab, coin operated laundry room, quiet study area, storage for suitcases, weekly cleaning, public telephone, backyard and terrace. Please contact our office for more information about the cost.
