International Travel Gateway

As a result of university regulations adopted to promote the well-being and safety of NC State students, all students engaging in university-affiliated international travel must register with the Study Abroad Office. This will allow the university to provide greater support to all students engaged in university-affiliated international travel.

  • All students engaged in non-credit-bearing, university-affiliated international travel must submit their itinerary to the International Travel Gateway
  • Students participating in study abroad or ASB programs are registered through their study abroad application, not the Gateway.
  • Students traveling for personal reasons (for example, summer or spring break vacation) should not submit a record in the Gateway.
  • The International Travel Gateway is only for student travel, thus faculty and staff should not log their travel. They should instead register a Faculty/Staff Support application.
UPDATE: At this time, the University has travel restrictions in place for international travel due to COVID-19. Furthermore, most countries are currently considered a Restricted Travel Area. Students are strongly advised to submit their intended travel plans 4-6 weeks prior to departure. Given the short turnaround often required for Gateway travel review, all students will now be required to submit a petition to seek an exception to the current travel restrictions at the time of submitting intended travel plans. Petitions for Restricted Travel Areas will be accepted or denied by SAO, in consultation with the Study Abroad Emergency Response Team, based on the petition responses submitted and an analysis of relevant factors listed on the Restricted Travel Area page. The petition has been included within your Gateway registration form.

Note: Students traveling with a group must each register individually. If the organization wishes to pay for the insurance on behalf of the entire group, please contact Seth Parrish or Lowell West
